Finnish meat processor Pouttu becomes part of Maag Food

16. January 2026

In mid-January, Pouttu, one of Finland’s largest meat processing companies, was incorporated under Maag Food. Previously, Pouttu was part of the Maag Group. As a result, the Maag Group has now consolidated all of its meat and dairy operations under Maag Food OÜ.

Maag Food is the largest food industry company in Estonia and a leading food producer in the Baltic region, bringing together well-known meat and dairy companies with long histories and owning the entire value chain—from feed production to finished products. In Estonia, Maag Food is the largest food industry company and, through its subsidiary Maag Agro, also the largest agricultural enterprise in the country.

According to Maag Food CEO Silver Kaur, bringing the meat and dairy businesses under unified management is part of the group’s long-term strategy. The internal restructuring also helps create new synergies between different industries, support growth, and make processes and cooperation more efficient.
“Pouttu is Finland’s fourth-largest meat producer and one of the largest employers in its region. With Pouttu moving under Maag Food, Finland will become one of our home markets (similarly to the Baltics), and Pouttu will in turn serve as our center of know-how in Finland. This change will not affect Maag Food’s day-to-day operations or employees, but for some of our managers it will mean gaining additional sparring partners and team members in Finland.”

Maag Food is Estonia’s largest food industry company and a leading food producer in the Baltic region.
The company’s home markets are Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Finland. Maag Food employs approximately 2,300 people across the region.
Its well-known and trusted brands include Rakvere, Tallegg, Tere, Farmi, and Deary in Estonia; Rīgas Miesnieks in Latvia; Klaipėdos Maistas in Lithuania; and Pouttu in Finland.
Maag Food is 100% owned by the domestically capitalized Maag Group, a food industry group founded in 1996.
