Maag Grupp unites meat and dairy companies under one management

17. September 2025

Maag Grupp is bringing its meat and dairy brands together under Maag Food OÜ. The company will continue to be led by Silver Kaur, who has until now headed the group’s meat production and processing units.

The Maag Grupp subsidiary Nordic Milk, Estonia’s leading dairy company, along with its brands Tere, Farmi, Deary and Meieri Transport, will soon be merged into the Maag Food business unit. Since 2023, Maag Food has operated all of the Group’s meat production companies in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania – the largest and best-known brands among them being Rakvere and Tallegg in Estonia, Rigas Miesnieks in Latvia, and Klaipedos Maistas in Lithuania.
According to Silver Kaur, who will continue as the head of Maag Food, the merger of the companies will help create new synergies between the Group’s various businesses.

The merger of Nordic Milk into the Maag Food business unit will not bring any changes to existing production activities or brands. ‘For consumers, nothing will change as a result of the merger – the same brands and products will continue to be available on store shelves. We will maintain production across all eight of our production units throughout the Baltics,’ said Kaur.

Roland Lepp, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Maag Grupp, notes that bringing the companies under a unified management structure is part of the group’s long-term strategy. ‘As Estonia’s leading food producer, our main objective is to expand our presence in nearby international markets. This is a strategic decision that will allow us to improve management processes within the aforementioned companies, allocate resources more effectively, strengthen our market position, and pursue faster growth particularly in export markets,’ he said.

Nordic Milk has so far been led by Ülo Kivine, whose contract ends on March 7 and who will not continue with Maag Food. ‘Under Ülo’s leadership, we have strengthened our market position in the dairy sector, established the company Nordic Milk and the plant-based brand Deary, and, of course, developed many new products. In addition, we have also grown in exports,’ Lepp acknowledged. ‘I would like to thank the Supervisory Board for the opportunity and trust to lead this company for two terms. I wish the new management success in the consolidation process,’ said Kivine.

Maag Food is the largest food industry company in Estonia, employing nearly 2,300 people after the merger. The company’s consolidated turnover in 2024 was close to 400 million euros. In addition to Estonia, Maag Food also operates in Latvia and Lithuania.
Maag Food is part of Maag Grupp, a food industry group based entirely on domestic capital, founded in 1996.
